For young authors with big imaginations.

The Little Readers Society is thrilled to introduce The Writing Studio—an enrichment program designed for children in Grades 2–5 who already enjoy reading, writing, and creating stories of their own.

This is not a remedial writing program. Rather, it's a creative writing experience for children who are excited to stretch their imagination, strengthen their writing skills, and discover the joy of becoming an author.

Over six inspiring weeks, students will blend explicit spelling and writing instruction with creativity, storytelling, and illustration as they bring an original story to life.

Each week, young authors will:

✏️ Develop stronger writing through mini-lessons on sentence structure, word choice, organization, dialogue, editing, and spelling strategies

📚 Learn how real authors plan, draft, revise, and publish their work

🎨 Design memorable characters that leap off the page

🏰 Create rich settings and imaginative worlds readers will want to explore

💡 Develop exciting plots, meaningful problems, and satisfying endings

🖍️ Illustrate their stories to bring their ideas to life

🌟 Build confidence by embracing their own unique voice as a writer

Throughout the program, each child will create and refine their very own original story while receiving encouragement, guidance, and celebration in a supportive small-group environment.

The Grand Finale

On our final evening, families are invited to our Publisher's Party & Gallery Walk!

Young authors will proudly share their finished books, celebrate their creativity, and experience the excitement of becoming a published author. It's a special evening that honours not only the finished story, but the courage, imagination, and perseverance it took to create it.

This program is not intended as remedial writing support or handwriting intervention. Students should already be comfortable writing independently and be ready to expand their creativity and writing skills.
